Morningstar Montessori

Morningstar Montessori House of Children practices the goals of founder and educator, Dr. Maria Montessori. Our mission is to help childen toward a joyous self-reliant approach to life, and a feeling that they can know the truth through their own efforts and make order out of the world. Morningstar Montessori is concerned with the "whole child" and is especially interested in the child's feelings about himself.

The Oregon Montessori Association (OMA) awarded Yvonne Silva, Directress of Morningstar Montessori House of Children, the Susie Huston Memorial Award in 2009 in recognition of "Excellence in Teaching". She was selected by her fellow Montessorians for the OMA's "Teacher of the Year" award in affirmation of over 40 years of fine work in Montessori preschool education.
